Cloud Computing Innovation

With the demand for cloud computing on the rise everyone seems to be wondering the same thing:

What is the next “Big Idea”?

What is the next new innovation?

Last year Fortune Magazine spoke about the super computer known as Titan. Titan has the processing capability of over 500,000 laptops. Titan, in and of its self, is truly remarkable but the software behind the computer is what allows it to run so efficiently.  Software programs similar to the one used for Titan are also used in cloud computing. It will be this type of software that will lead cloud computing into the future and is the newest innovation for cloud computing.

Businesses transitioning into cloud computing and those already using cloud computing are now looking for and developing new software programs to improve the Cloud and its functionality.  Enabling the use innovative software programs in the Cloud will allow for more efficient cloud computing systems, which in turn will lead to serving customers and clients more quickly—a big perk for both business and their customers. Businesses spend thousands of dollars each year making a mainframe system for a single software program. Implementing software development on the Cloud will eliminate the majority of these costs.  Because the software can be created and implemented in the Cloud funds will not need to be allocated so heavily to research and development. Also, businesses can experiment with new software programs within the cloud without taking on risk. Risk being the money put into developing new software that may or may not work.

What about innovation on the global perspective?

Cloud computing is expected to bridge a gender gap within the technological realm in the coming years. Companies will be looking to hire employees with a strong knowledge base of cloud computing and cloud computing systems.  Universities will be accepting more applicants and companies like Intel are creating programs to promote female participation in the movement. Intel has started paying for half of the registration fee for women who wish to attend the IC3 or IT Cloud Computing Conference in San Francisco. Intel is one of many companies pushing for more female involvement in computing technology.

Please tune in next week as we continue to take a deeper look at cloud computing and all it has to offer.

  1. Is the gender gap going towards women and if so why would you say it is structured towards women.

  2. The reason why it is targeting towards women was because not too many women study in computer science and the universities wanted to get more women into learning and studying this main focus as well as boost their confidence because this is a male dominate world. Just like being a firemen, I have never seen or think that there are firewomen who work on that field but I know that there is probably many that works out there as a firemen.

  3. I think that cloud computing will give smaller businesses a better chance to implement software, because they won't have to host it themselves. A lot of small companies do not have the technological resources to run the software in house, but will now be able to have access to more innovative programs that can help them as they try to grow.

  4. Over the last year there have been a lot of breach and hackers entering companies important information because of the use of cloud computing, do you think security is not going to be an issue for cloud computing to keep groing?

    1. Security has always and will always be an issue regardless what you used. But there are ways to reduce the risk. Like encryption, providing more protection as well as monitoring around them.

  5. how better you think with titan than clouding? like Alejandro Forest said "Over the last year there have been a lot of breach and hackers entering companies important information because of the use of cloud computing" is it safe and can it be trusted? how many does it cost? because everyone want privacy except companies.

    1. Is it safe to used cloud computing? No, but it is more secure using the clouds. We all know that nothing can be trusted when it deals with online as for how much it costa, it depends on how much space you needed. Yes everyone wants privacy but I have to disagreed with you about companies. Companies spent thousand of dollar just for security as well as privacy alone. Their privacy might not be the same as ours but they do have them.

  6. With businesses making large investments into cloud computing, the opportunity for a small company to grow presents itself.

    1. Agreed, based on what I've read, small business benefits from cloud computing because it reduce their cost, it allows them to access their files everywhere and anywhere. Clouds also reduce security risk and they no longer have to worry about space or software updates.

  8. To me personally I feel like its going to be hard for most companies to go from a personal server or something of that nature to cloud computing. I think that it is a great way to cut cost and help companies get more tech savvy. But, I feel like the insecurities with cloud computing such as hacking and not being tangible or just knowing everything about the technology like they do these servers is gonna hurt and inhibit companies from turning to them. Do you think there is anyway for technology companies to ensure these companies switching over to the cloud computing that their information will be safe and that its as safe as a server and get these companies enough knowledge to where they can trust the cloud as much as there servers now?

    1. There are lots of big companies who have already used cloud computing. There are ways to help reduce security risk but cloud computing is more secure then other device that was used. Yes I agree with you that cloud computing is one way to save IT cost which benefits small or large companies.

  9. Do you think there will be another Technological advancement that could replace cloud computing in the future

  10. There are always new technologies that are coming about because without innovation and technologies, the world will never develop. So yes, I do think that along the way somewhere down the road there will be a new type of cloud computing that will come take over.
